Lomas, a car dealer and moneylender with ties to organized crime, vanished from his home in Bristol under suspicious circumstances. His house was found in disarray: doors unlocked, his dogs roaming loose, and a meal half-prepared, signs of a sudden and violent departure. Given his criminal connections, authorities believed he had been kidnapped or murdered by gangland figures, but no trace of him was found until October 1993.
