Stanley never returned home. His taxi was later found abandoned, but there were no signs of struggle. Eight days later, his body was discovered in a ditch near Yetminster, killed by a single stab wound. His valuables remained untouched, suggesting the murder was personal rather than a robbery.

His wife, Lillian Blackmore, uncovered a cryptic letter from a man named Alan Crisp, hinting at a long-held secret debt connected to Stanley’s past—one tied to post-war covert operations and powerful, shadowy figures. As Lillian delved deeper, she realized Stanley had been targeted not for who he was, but for what he knew. His murder was a message, and the real target might still be out there.
